As a Production Planner, you will own and control the day-to-day production schedule, ensuring efficient execution of the production plan, strong schedule adherence, and clear communication across Planning, Production, Operations, and Programmes. The role separates short-term execution from medium- and long-term planning to improve operational performance, stability, and scalability.
Key Duties
- Own full accountability for the production schedule from work order release through to completion.
- Create, maintain, and communicate the Weekly Work Schedule.
- Sequence and prioritise work orders in line with capacity, material availability, and business priorities.
- Proactively manage and adjust schedules to minimise disruption and delays.
- Raise, print, and distribute work orders and job packs on a weekly basis.
- Maintain the Ready-to-Release work order process.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all production documentation.
- Act as the primary point of contact for production scheduling queries and changes.
- Communicate priorities, constraints, and schedule changes clearly to stakeholders.
- Work closely with Production Planners to align short-term execution with agreed plans.
- Engage regularly with Production, Operations, Quality, and Programmes teams.
- Identify scheduling inefficiencies and recurring execution issues.
- Contribute to improvements in schedule adherence, delivery performance, and production stability.
- Provide accurate scheduling data to support reporting and operational decision-making.
Skills/Qualifications
Essential
- Demonstrable experience in production planning, scheduling, or a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of production processes, inventory management, and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems.
- Good understanding of MRP methodology and its application in a manufacturing setting.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g. 123Insight, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams.
Desirable
- Experience in electronics manufacturing or complex assembly environments.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and/or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Understanding of continuous improvement tools and techniques.
- Exposure to SIOP, capacity planning, or MRP improvement initiatives.
