The Production Operative will possess a strong manufacturing and assembly background, ideally gained within the Aerospace and Defence sector or another low to medium volume Technology sector. The role is to ensure that the assembly of products are carried out to the required Quality, Cost and Delivery requirements.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble units in accordance with customer specific drawings and specifications
- Read and interpret complex drawings, including systems and notes
- Verify that routings and detailed Work Instruction Sheets have been followed for all activities
- Adhere to the Company’s quality operating procedures at all times during the execution of day to day assembly activities, complying with IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, AS9100 and NADCAP procedures where required
- Ensure compliance to the Company’s Health and Safety and Environmental procedures
- Become proficient in the procedures and processes relevant to the position and to highlight training needs when required
- Act at all times in accordance with the terms and conditions described in the Employee’s contract of employment
- Apply a professional and conscious approach in your day to day operations
- Engage in 5s activities as required by local supervision and other Lean events when required to do so
- Carry out any other duties commensurate with your skills
- Work across teams from different areas to support initial design of products
Skills/Qualifications
- Demonstrated competence in interpreting and understanding electrical engineering drawings
- Demonstrated competence in interpreting and understanding mechanical engineering drawings
- Proven ability to strip, tin, and crimp wires across a range of diameters
- Demonstrable experience of working within electronic sector, ideally within the defence or aerospace sector
- A good understanding of Health and Safety Management within an engineering / manufacturing environment
- The ability to demonstrate attention to detail and produce a high standard of work, apply a ‘right first time’ approach
- Ideally qualified to IPC and JSTD soldering standards
- willingness and desire to learn new skills and invest in professional development
- Excellent communications skills with proven experience of engaging and building relationships within a team
Desirable
- Experience in a fast paced Aerospace or Defence Quality manufacturing environment desirable

- SECURITY – All candidates must be in a position to obtain UK security clearance to SC level. Additional restrictions may apply on certain defence programmes.
