We are looking to expand our FAIR team by recruiting an additional Quality Inspector with FAI (First Article Inspection) experience to support deliveries made to our customers. You will be responsible for providing First Article Inspection Report (FAIR) inspections reports in accordance with AS9102 and ensuring timely delivery of FAIRs to align with production ship dates.
Duties
- Ensure all FAIR requirements are fully understood from the customer and that all FAIR deliverables are well documented, approved, correctly released and appropriately stored and / or archived
- Compiling the FAIR in the toolset to include structuring the FAIR, MRP interrogation, information gathering for each part to evidence the required traceability, including materials certificates, CMM reports, Bill of materials and Works Orders
- Preparation of FAIR forms to support the Works Order ready to release process
- Understanding and interrogating of technical drawings to make sure the evidence collected meets the AS9102 requirements and flag up any major issues
- Ensure all First Article Inspection Reports from suppliers are adequate and evidence appropriately
- Managing day to day FAIR priorities
- Identify and /or implement opportunities to improve the FAIR process robustness/efficiency to reduce lead-time and waste
- Provide details for Contract Reviews and cost summaries to determine FAIR resource requirements and timeframes
- Generating monthly FAIR requirement plan to meet by internal and customer expectations
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Possess a qualification in an Engineering discipline at HND/ HNC level or to an equivalent standard of education, or an Apprenticeship. In lieu of academics, extensive experience will be considered
- Experience gained in a similar position where you have operated in a low to medium volume production environment, ideally within the aerospace and / or defence sector(s)
- Effective product verification techniques, understanding of first article inspection requirements and techniques to meet the requirements for AS9102
- Attention to detail is essential as is excellent communication skills at various levels of the business and efficient reporting of status to the business of FAIR progress
- Experience of managing/ Improving a ‘first article inspection’ (FAI) process
- Be highly proficient in reviewing drawings and product data management, to clarify parts and product are within a customer’s specified tolerances
- Have hands‑on experience of working in a manufacturing environment specialising in the production of fabricated enclosures and products with electronics content
- Possess strong knowledge of common engineering materials and properties
- Be knowledgeable in both AS9100 and AS9102 standards
- Experience in using MRP system to extract appropriate documentation required for FAIR evidence
- Ability to work in a team environment and participate in all team activities, with a willingness to share own professional experience and skills
