Due to continued growth, STS Defence is expanding its procurement team and looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Buyer to join our dynamic organisation. You’ll be at the heart of keeping our projects moving – sourcing the materials, components, and services that power our cutting-edge technology. You’ll collaborate across teams and partner with trusted suppliers to deliver smart, cost-effective procurement solutions that meet deadlines, exceed quality standards, and support the success of every project.
Duties
- Manage day to day priorities, safety practices, and adherence to deadlines, also ensuring close relationships with stakeholder groups are effective
- You will be process MRP demands, tactical purchase requisitions, evaluate quotations and process purchase orders in a timely manner in accordance with company procedures
- Working from material demands (Bill of Materials (“BOM”)) you will draft, issue and analyse quotations to support bid and procurement activities
- Drive down supply chain costs both through tactical savings and continuous improvement opportunities
- Develop robust working relationships with key suppliers and relationship managers to ensure effective supplier performance
- Work closely with the Senior Buyer to maximise process efficiencies and minimise supply chain costs
- You will be an Integral member of cross functional stakeholder groups providing centralised support to the business
- Maintain regular communication with all business groups within a dynamic and agile business environment
Qualifications, Experience And Skills
- Proven and demonstrable experience in a junior buying role
- Experience of using MRP and accounting systems
- A military / maritime / engineering support background is advantageous
Competencies
- Familiarity with MS Office (especially Excel), with an ability to use systems and IT packages efficiently
- Strong communication and organisational skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks with an attention to detail
- Time management skills, able to prioritise workload to meet functional demands ensuring program responsibilities are prioritised to achieve customer satisfaction
- Ability to integrate in to a dynamic team of buyers, operating flexibly in an agile environment
- Ability to take a proactive approach to overcome challenges and achieve results with an aptitude for continuous improvement
