STS Aviation Services is hiring Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanics in Birmingham, United Kingdom. This role is built for skilled structural technicians who take pride in precision, workmanship, and the ability to deliver high quality results under established aviation standards. You will support modifications, heavy maintenance, and structural repairs across a variety of aircraft platforms while working within an experienced, safety-driven team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carry out modifications and maintenance in accordance with approved drawings and maintenance data, taking full accountability for the technical integrity of all work performed.
  • Complete strip and removal of major structural aircraft equipment.
  • Interpret technical manuals, technical drawings, and regulatory requirements.
  • Install complex structural assemblies.
  • Work to fine tolerances and consistently high standards.
  • Use sealants, fasteners, and bonding techniques as required.
  • Maintain the highest standards of tool control within the work area.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Provide regular updates on any issues affecting the work plan, including proposed solutions where applicable.
  • Report unsafe conditions to the Lead Technician or B1 Engineer and through internal reporting channels.

Skills and Abilities

  • Completed an engineering apprenticeship, ideally in Aeronautical Engineering or military equivalent.
  • Ideally two years of live aircraft sheet metal or structural experience.

Part 145 Training Requirements

  • Initial Human Factors and Continuation Training.
  • Human Factors Initial SFAR Phase 1 and 2 and Continuation Training SFAR Phase 1 and 2.
  • Initial EWIS Group 1 and 2 and Continuation Training EWIS Group 1 and 2.
  • ETOPS RVSM.
