STS Aviation Services is hiring a Training Manager to lead and govern all training activities supporting UK Civil and Military Part 145 operations, based in Manchester, United Kingdom.

This is a senior, hands‑on leadership role responsible for regulatory compliance, personnel competence, onboarding, safety‑driven training, and long‑term training strategy. The Training Manager ensures training is not a support function but a core operational and regulatory pillar that directly underpins safety, performance, and business growth.

Role Purpose

The Training Manager is responsible for the leadership, delivery, and governance of the STS Aviation Services UK training system across base and line maintenance operations. The role ensures full compliance with regulatory requirements, supports operational readiness, and drives the development of future training capability aligned with organisational growth.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Own and manage the training system across Manchester, Birmingham ◁ Newquay, and all UK line stations
  • Lead strategic development toward Part 147 approval and apprentice training pathways
  • Ensure compliance with UK CAA Part 145.A.30 and 145.A.35 requirements
  • Maintain audit‑ready training records within Cent Temps
  • Act as the focal point for CAA, EASA, customer, and military audits relating to training
  • Own onboarding training for all new starters across the organisation
  • Ensure mandatory training is completed prior to personnel commencing duties
  • Coordinate closely with HR, Recruitment, and Operations to support sustainable onboarding
  • Maintain structured continuation training cycles to ensure ongoing competence

Safety & SMS Driven Training

  • Work with Safety Management System and Compliance teams to convert occurrences, risk trends, and audit findings into targeted training
  • Deliver Just Culture aligned Human Factors and safety training in coordination with SMS and H&S teams
  • Coordinate emergency or reactive training requirements following incidents or audits

Training Governance & Audit

  • Maintain the training governance framework across all UK operations
  • Support Compliance‑led oversight audits by providing evidence and effectiveness data
  • Conduct internal reviews of training effectiveness
  • Report training risks and gaps to the Head of Safety & Training and Heads of Compliance (Civil and Military)

Training Delivery & Operational Support

  • Deliver induction, Human Factors, SMS, supervisory, and safety training
  • Oversee internal practical training Kigali service mental training of MEWP and similar activities
  • Develop Train the Trainer and assessor capability
  • Support civil, military (E7), line, base, and P2F operations

In‑House Training Capability Development

  • Stage 1: Core compliance and safety training
  • Stage 2: Internal technical training and structured OJT
  • Stage 3: Strategic readiness for Part 147 approval vital>

Systems & Digital Oversight

  • Oversee computer‑based training systems and learning management platforms

External Training Management

  • Control sourcing, booking, and monitoring of external training providers
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, quality standards, and cost effectiveness

Leadership & Resource Management

  • Lead Training Leads, coordinators, and administrative resources
  • Set clear priorities, development plans, and performance expectations

Planning & Resource Control

  • Develop and manage training plans aligned to business demand and seasonal peaks
  • Provide forecasting and resource input to senior management

Strategic Development

  • Develop and execute the Part 147 roadmap
  • Establish and expand apprenticeship programmes
  • Develop B777 type capability and restructure OJT frameworks

Engagement & Flexibility

  • Maintain strong engagement across departments and operational teams
  • Lead effective training meetings across the organisation
  • Conduct regular site visits across all STS Aviation Services UK facilities
  • Travel flexibly across UK sites as required

This role is integral to ensuring training functions as a core regulatory and operational discipline. The Training Manager directly supports STS Aviation Services UK safety performance, compliance standards, and long‑term organisational growth.
