STS Aviation Services is hiring a Safety Engineer to join our expanding Safety & Compliance team in Manchester. This role supports the continued development of a strong, proactive safety culture at one of the UK’s leading MRO facilities and plays a critical part in ensuring safe, compliant aircraft maintenance operations. This opportunity is well suited to a technically minded safety professional with experience in Part 145 environments who wants to make a tangible impact within a growing organisation.
Position Overview
The Safety Engineer supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System in accordance with EASA and UK CAA Part 145 requirements. Working closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams, this role ensures safety data is captured, analysed, and actioned effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the ongoing development, monitoring, and enhancement of the Safety Management System in line with ICAO Annex 19 and Part 145 requirements
- Conduct safety audits, inspections, and investigations, producing detailed reports and root cause analyses
- Monitor safety performance indicators and ensure timely closure of corrective and preventive actions
- Facilitate hazard identification, risk assessments, and safety workshops across maintenance teams
- Manage and analyse safety reports within the SMS platform, with Centrik experience preferred
- Support compliance monitoring activities and ensure findings are accurately recorded and addressed
- Assist with the development and delivery of safety communications and training materials
- Work collaboratively with engineering and production teams to improve safety awareness and operational performance
- Promote a positive safety culture and support continuous improvement initiatives across safety, quality, and compliance functions
Skills and Experience
- BSc in Aerospace Engineering or an equivalent technical qualification
- 1–2 years of experience in a Part 145 maintenance safety or compliance role
- Working knowledge of EASA and UK CAA Part 145 regulations
- Strong understanding of Safety Management System principles under ICAO Annex 19
- Experience conducting safety audits, investigations, and producing RCA reports
- Familiarity with the Centrik SMS platform is preferred
- Understanding of fixed-wing maintenance safety hazards including B737, B777, A320, and A330 aircraft
- Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills
