Job Title: Class 1 Driver

We are seeking a reliable, safety-focused Class 1 Driver to join our transportation team. The ideal candidate will operate heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) to transport goods efficiently and professionally while maintaining high standards of compliance, customer service, and vehicle care.

Location: Birmingham – B33

Schedule: Days & Nights; 7 day operation

Pay: £19.61 ph – Days | £20.45 ph – Nights | £21.30 ph – Saturdays | £22.20 ph – Sundays

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate Class 1 vehicles (tractor‑trailers, articulated lorries) for local, regional, or long‑haul routes
• Perform pre‑trip, en‑route, and post‑trip inspections of the vehicle and report any mechanical issues
• Load and unload cargo while ensuring proper load security and weight distribution
• Maintain accurate records including delivery documents, logbooks, and timesheets
• Adhere to company policies, highway laws, and industry regulations (e.g., Hours of Service, tachograph use)
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and warehouse teams
• Ensure timely delivery and collection of goods
• Keep vehicle clean and well‑maintained
• Follow all safety protocols and participate in ongoing training

Required Qualifications

• Valid Class 1 (Category C+E) driver’s licence
• Clean driving record with minimal infractions
• Experience driving articulated vehicles (experience level can be adjusted based on your needs)
• Knowledge of transport regulations, road safety, and vehicle operation
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as loading/unloading when required
• Strong time‑management and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous long‑haul or specialized freight experience
• Valid CPC card and Digital Tachograph card
• Experience with temperature‑controlled units, flatbeds, tankers, or other specific equipment (optional)

Working Conditions

• Shifts may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays depending on business needs
• Exposure to varying weather conditions
• May involve overnight or multi‑day trips (if applicable)
