We are currently looking for a Vessel Traffic Services Officer (VTSO) to join our busy team in the thriving Port of Dover!
As a Vessel Traffic Services Officer (VTSO), you will monitor and regulate the movement of all vessels within the port, ensuring the utmost safety and compliance with the Port Marine Safety Code. You'll be responsible for advising captains and pilots on passing vessels, allocating berths for both scheduled and unscheduled arrivals, and coordinating with the Duty Harbour Master for optimal operational efficiency. This role is crucial to maintaining the smooth running of port activities and the safety of everyone involved.
Hours of Work: The Port operates 365 days a year. You'll be required to work a shift pattern of days and nights, averaging a 42-hour week.
Vessel Traffic Services Officer (VTSO) Requirements:
- Valid CO103/1 certificate is required, training will be provided to achieve this certification.
- Previous experience within VTS or a comparable industry, or as an Officer of the Watch as defined by STCW.
- Experience in a senior rating or command-and-control role, preferably in the Armed Forces.
- Demonstrable experience in operational management and planning.
- Proficiency in operating VTS systems such as RADAR, AIS, CCTV, and communications systems.
