Structured Environment is a design-led structural and civil engineering consultancy with offices in London, Tokyo, and Copenhagen. We emphasize close collaboration with project teams including architects and services engineers to develop innovative ideas and maximize results from minimal resources. As our name indicates, our main focus is on producing environmentally considerate structures.
Established in 1998 by Alan Burden, our portfolio has grown to include residential, commercial, and institutional projects such as hotels, hospitals, schools, museums, and bridges. We have tried to engage and sythesize the particular national strengths in structural engineering from the UK, Japan, and Denmark, to produce results that benefit from all three inputs. We are recognized with numerous awards for our work.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a structural engineer located in Canary Wharf, London. The engineer will be responsible for performing structural analysis, calculations, and design, collaborating with project teams to develop structural solutions, and utilizing analysis software and AutoCad/Revit for modeling and design. The role will also involve overseeing project progress and ensuring construction compliance with our design and regulations. The London office is small, so we require help with business development. The role would suit a near or newly chartered structural engineer with exoerience on London conversion projects.
Qualifications
- Masters level degree in civil/structural engineering or similar
- Wide experience in conversion projects and projects with high architectural input
- A clear interest in the environment and the climate crisis, and the role that engineers can play in it
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Initiative, clarity of thought, and resolve
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Chartered structural engineer level preferred
- Native or near native English. Ability in Japanese and Danish also an advantage
- Flexibilty for travel, both within the UK and to Japan and Denmark
