Fire Stopping Surveyor Job Description Overview We are seeking an experienced Fire Stopping Surveyor to join our team, responsible for surveying, inspecting, and reporting on passive fire protection measures across residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance with current fire safety legislation and building regulations. Key Responsibilities * Conduct detailed fire stopping surveys and compartmentation surveys across a range of building types * Identify breaches in fire compartmentation, including penetrations, service risers, and cavity barriers * Produce clear, accurate, and detailed survey reports with photographic evidence and remedial recommendations * Assess existing fire stopping installations against current Building Regulations (Approved Document B), BS 9999, and BS 476/EN 1366 standards * Liaise with clients, contractors, and fire risk assessors to communicate findings and recommended actions * Provide technical advice on appropriate fire stopping products and installation methods * Carry out quality assurance inspections of completed fire stopping works * Maintain accurate records and survey documentation in line with company and industry standards * Stay up to date with changes in fire safety legislation, including the Building Safety Act and Fire Safety Act * Support pricing and scoping of remedial fire stopping works where required Requirements * Proven experience as a Fire Stopping Surveyor, Passive Fire Protection Surveyor, or similar role * Strong working knowledge of fire compartmentation principles and relevant British Standards * Relevant qualifications such as FIRAS, IFC (Intumescent Fire Coatings), or Level 3/4 Passive Fire Protection qualifications (desirable) * Understanding of the Building Safety Act 2022 and Fire Safety (England) Regulations * Excellent report writing and IT skills (Word, Excel, survey software) * Full UK driving licence, with willingness to travel to sites * Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently * Good communication skills for liaising with clients and site teams * CSCS card (desirable) Desirable Attributes * Background in construction, building surveying, or fire safety * Experience working with housing associations, local authorities, or facilities management companies * Confidence working at height and accessing risers, ceiling voids, and loft spaces What We Offer Weekly Paymrnt, Competitive day rate 8 -10 week contract potentially longer
