Role Description
The Bricklaying squad 2-1 role is a full-time, on-site position based in Blyth. The squad will be responsible for carrying out bricklaying and masonry tasks on residential and commercial projects, including setting out work, laying bricks and blocks, and constructing walls and other structural elements. Day-to-day duties include mixing and applying cement and mortar, interpreting technical drawings, maintaining accurate levels and alignments, and completing repairs or renovation work as required. Team members will ensure all work meets company quality standards, adheres to safety regulations, and is completed within agreed timelines. Collaboration with site management, other trades, and suppliers is a key part of the role.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in brickwork and general masonry for structural and non-structural construction tasks.
- Proficiency in working with cement, including mixing, placing, and finishing to specified standards.
- Experience in renovation projects, including repair, restoration, and modification of existing structures.
- Ability to perform stonework, including cutting, shaping, and laying stone for walls, facades, and finishes.
- Relevant trade qualification or apprenticeship in bricklaying or masonry, or equivalent practical experience.
- Good understanding of construction drawings, site safety practices, and building regulations.
- Ability to work effectively in a squad, communicate clearly with teammates, and follow supervisory instructions.
- Physical capability to perform manual construction tasks and operate standard bricklaying tools and equipment.
