About Structa:
At Structa our purpose is "to develop and harness our engineering expertise, to create a sustainable legacy for those who construct and inhabit the built environment." We are a multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy, working for private and public sector clients, on projects ranging from bespoke homes through to major regeneration and new housing schemes for leading housebuilders and commercial clients. We were founded in 2004 and have grown into a team of around 40 engineers, technicians and business support staff across three UK offices. Our partners are hands-on, our teams are close-knit, and our 80% repeat business reflects how much our clients value our work.
The opportunity:
Structa LLP is looking for a Structural Engineer to join our growing Hemel Hempstead office. We are seeking an engineer with at least three years’ consultancy experience who is looking to develop their technical and professional skills within a supportive and collaborative team. Experience working with volume housebuilders would be beneficial but is not essential.
- Structural design and analysis of buildings and structural elements.
- Preparing calculations, reports and sketches.
- Reviewing and checking drawings.
- Coordinating with clients, architects and other consultants.
- Planning and monitoring your own workload, and delivering work to agreed timescales.
- Contributing to our technical standards and continuous improvement practices.
About you:
- Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (JBM-accredited preferred).
- Minimum three years’ experience within a structural engineering consultancy.
- Good working knowledge of UK design standards and the Eurocodes.
- Strong technical, communication and organisational skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Working towards Chartership with the ICE or IStructE would be advantageous.
Why join Structa:
We are a collaborative consultancy with a strong focus on technical quality, professional development and long-term progression. We also believe experienced engineers deserve specifics, not the usual vague promises of "competitive packages" and "career development." Here is what that actually means with us.
How we develop and reward our engineers:
- Transparent salary bands — linked to structured annual reviews, so you always know where you sit and what the next step looks like.
- Clear progression pathways — with defined role competency and performance attributes — no opaque promotion processes.
- Supportive technical review and quality assurance — on project work, so your designs are sense-checked and you keep learning from senior engineers.
- ICE-accredited training scheme — and paid professional subscriptions to support your route to chartership.
The wider package:
- Salary — £36,000 – £46,000, depending on experience.
- Flexible working — 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.
- Core hours — 10am to 4pm, with flexibility around them.
- 25 days’ annual leave — plus public holidays, increasing with service.
- Pension — company pension with a 5% employer contribution.
- Healthcare — Healthcare cash-back scheme.
- Life assurance — financial protection for your family.
- Employee Assistance Programme — confidential advice and support across the many areas of life we all navigate.
- Social events — in the summer and at Christmas.

Please send your CV and a short covering note to careers@structa.co.uk telling us a little about your current role, what you’re looking for next, and why Structa appeals to you. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and are committed to building an inclusive team.
