About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and innovative team in a newly created role. The purpose of the Data and Insights Officer role is to support data-driven decision-making across the council by collecting, analysing and visualising data. Temporary, fixed term role (18 months from start date)
Responsibilities
- Working closely with teams across the council and external partners to ensure projects and priorities are grounded in robust evidence and local intelligence.
- Collating and integrating complex data from multiple sources and converting it into usable business intelligence.
- Identifying patterns, trends and disparities in data to understand community needs, evaluate service impact, and inform decisions that improve outcomes and reduce inequalities.
Qualifications
- Proactive and organised.
- Excellent and effective communicator to diverse audiences of varying seniority.
- Experience in dealing with people at a range of levels within an organisation.
- Analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to understand and interpret data and effectively develop solutions.
- Willingness to adapt to different scenarios and build strong relationships with partners, operational teams and services.
- Experience with additional data tools or platforms such as R or GIS systems, or working in a public health, local government or community services setting, is desirable but not essential.
