Active Lifestyles Stroud is a vibrant leisure centre in the heart of Stratford Park, supporting local people to enjoy healthier, happier and more active lives. We’re looking for a friendly, confident and customer-focused Customer Service Advisor to join our reception team and help create a fantastic first impression for everyone who visits us.

Job summary

Do you enjoy meeting people, solving problems and being part of a team that makes a real difference in the community? If so, this could be the perfect role for you.

As a Customer Service Advisor, you’ll be at the heart of the centre, welcoming customers, supporting enquiries and helping people access everything from memberships and bookings to swimming lessons and activities. You’ll play an important part in creating a warm, professional and inclusive experience for our customers from the moment they arrive.

This is a varied and rewarding role in a busy leisure environment, where no two days are quite the same. The centre is open 7 days a week from 6.00am – 10.00pm, so applicants must be able to work a set pattern that includes evenings and weekends, with some flexibility to cover annual leave or absence when needed.

In return, you’ll join a supportive team, receive full training and have opportunities to build your skills across the centre.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcoming customers and providing a friendly, professional reception service
  • Answering enquiries face to face, over the phone and by email
  • Helping customers with bookings, memberships, payments and refunds
  • Promoting our memberships, services and retail products in a positive and helpful way
  • Handling feedback and complaints calmly, professionally and with a focus on finding solutions
  • Supporting the administration of swim school and activity programmes
  • Keeping the reception area clean, organised and welcoming
  • Following health and safety, safeguarding and operational procedures
  • Working closely with colleagues across the centre to support smooth day-to-day operations

You don’t need to know everything on day one — full training will be provided, so we’re looking for someone with the right attitude, a positive approach and a genuine commitment to great customer service.

What we’re looking for

  • A friendly and approachable manner
  • Good communication skills and confidence speaking with a wide range of customers
  • A calm, organised and solution-focused approach
  • Accuracy when handling bookings, payments and customer information
  • A willingness to work as part of a team and support the wider centre

We’ll support you to grow in the role through ongoing training, coaching and opportunities to gain experience across the centre. Whether you’re building on existing customer service experience or looking for a new opportunity in a people-focused environment, you’ll be part of a team that values your contribution.

We have two part‑time, permanent positions available – 24 hours per week & 26 hours per week

It is important that our staff reflect the diversity of our community, and we therefore welcome and encourage applications from people of all genders and sexual orientation, those from Black, Asian and other minority ethnic backgrounds, and people with disabilities.

We welcome applications from neurodivergent candidates and value the diverse lived experiences they bring.

We are committed to ensuring that every applicant can participate fully and fairly in our recruitment process. To support this, we offer workplace adjustments at every stage. Please let us know if you have any additional requirements as we are here to help create a positive, inclusive, and equitable experience for all.
