Stroud District Council are seeking a suitably qualified, self-motivated, experienced person to join the Private Sector Housing Team in a principal enforcement role. The role includes management responsibilities, which give an excellent opportunity for career development.

If you have considerable experience in private sector housing enforcement work and disabled facilities grants, you could be just the person we need to join our busy Private Sector Housing Team. We are looking for a competent officer who can efficiently deal with a varied and often complex workload across private sector housing enforcement work.

The successful applicant must be adept at enforcement work including:

  • serving statutory notices
  • issuing civil penalties
  • prosecutions to achieve legal compliance

Officers in the team are expected to be able to process applications for HMOs and Caravan site licenses, effectively deal with empty homes and take action for electrical safety standards, minimum energy efficiency standards in the private rented sector, and assist vulnerable homeowners, including with grant and loan applications.

There will be new challenges for the team ahead from the Renter Rights Act and you’ll contribute your experience and knowledge to help ensure the service is prepared.
