We are seeking a Principal Accountant to join our welcoming and well-respected Finance Team.

About the role

The Principal Accountant will lead on the preparation and audit of the statement of accounts, and manage the treasury management, finance systems, payroll, insurance and VAT functions and provide a high quality, responsive and efficient finance service to the Council. This role will provide a professional lead within Finance, maintaining awareness and knowledge of relevant legislation, financial reporting standards, best practice and new developments.

About you

You will be a qualified accountant (CCAB or equivalent) with experience of working in local government and good knowledge of Codes of Practice. You will be able to effectively communicate at all levels, and display and promote the Council's values and behaviours. You will have the ability to lead, motivate, influence and develop within the team and beyond.
