Strong Group is recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing freight forwarding business based in Hayes. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Ocean Freight Coordinator to join their busy operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in sea freight imports who is looking to join a supportive and professional organisation offering hybrid working and long-term career prospects. Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance of Hayes.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing ocean freight import shipments from origin through to final delivery, ensuring all documentation, customs requirements and customer expectations are met efficiently and accurately.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end Ocean Freight import process.
- Coordinate international sea freight shipments from origin to destination.
- Prepare and process import documentation, including Bills of Lading, commercial invoices, packing lists and certificates of origin.
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations and import procedures.
- Liaise with shipping lines, overseas agents, suppliers and customers regarding shipment status and updates.
- Monitor shipments and proactively resolve delays, customs holds and documentation discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate shipment records within the company logistics system.
- Produce operational and management reports as required.
- Identify cost-effective shipping routes and solutions.
- Work closely with sales, warehouse and finance teams to support business objectives.
- Keep up to date with industry regulations and customs legislation.
Requirements
- Previous experience within Ocean Freight / Sea Freight Forwarding.
- Strong knowledge of Ocean Freight imports.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Good IT and systems experience.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Must be based locally to Hayes or within a reasonable commuting distance.
