We are seeking an experienced Groundworks / Civils Estimator to join a well-established contractor delivering a range of infrastructure and groundwork projects across the Yorkshire region. This role will focus on pricing and securing projects across residential, commercial, and infrastructure sectors, working closely with pre-construction and delivery teams.
The business is a reputable civils and groundworks contractor with a strong pipeline of secured work and long-standing relationships with main contractors and developers. They operate across multiple sectors including housing developments, roads & infrastructure, drainage, and commercial groundwork packages.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare accurate cost estimates for groundworks and civil engineering projects
- Interpret drawings, specifications, and tender documents
- Complete take-offs and BOQs for tender submissions
- Price materials, labour, plant, and subcontract packages
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations
- Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings
- Identify value engineering opportunities and risk factors
- Work closely with commercial and operational teams to ensure smooth project handover
- Maintain a strong understanding of market rates and industry trends
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar groundworks or civils estimating role
- Strong knowledge of drainage, foundations, roads, and infrastructure packages
- Experience pricing residential and/or commercial developments
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Confident communicator with client-facing capability
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- Excellent organisation and time management
- Ability to work under pressure to meet tender deadlines
- Proficient with estimating software and Excel
- Team player with a proactive approach
