Job Title: Mechanical Estimator – Hybrid Location: Essex, UK Salary: £60,000 – £65,000 (DOE) Are you an experienced Mechanical Estimator ready to take full control of the estimating function? We have an exciting opportunity for a Sole Estimator to join a growing company based in Essex , where you’ll play a pivotal role in driving project success. Supported by a hands-on Managing Director and a couple of experienced Project Managers , you’ll work on diverse mechanical projects ranging from £100k to £2m, focusing on ductwork and pipework across multiple sectors. The Role: As the Sole Mechanical Estimator , you’ll be responsible for delivering accurate and competitive estimates for a variety of mechanical projects. From initial tender inquiries to final submission, you will manage the entire estimation process, utilising Ensign software to price up ductwork and pipefitting jobs effectively. Key responsibilities include: Preparing detailed estimates for mechanical projects, including ductwork and pipework , within the £100k – £2m range Managing the tendering process, ensuring timely and accurate submission of tenders Reviewing and interpreting project drawings, specifications, and client requirements to produce accurate costings Sourcing and negotiating prices with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive and cost-effective bids Using Ensign software to generate estimates and pricing for ductwork and pipefitting installations Liaising closely with the MD and Project Managers to ensure estimates align with project goals and budgets Managing project variations and providing revised costings where required Handling projects across multiple sectors, including commercial, residential, and industrial Requirements: Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator in the construction industry, with a strong background in ductwork and pipefitting Confidence in managing the entire estimating process independently Proficiency in Ensign software for ductwork and pipefitting estimates is essential Strong understanding of mechanical systems within the construction sector Excellent commercial awareness and the ability to deliver competitive, profitable tenders Solid communication and negotiation skills to build relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and project teams Highly organised with a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously A background in cross-sector projects (commercial, residential, and industrial) is highly desirable Why Join?
