Strong Life Care is seeking a caring, passionate and detail-focused Domestic to join our team in Castleford, United Kingdom. Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitise bedrooms, bathrooms, lounges, dining areas, corridors and communal spaces to a consistently high standard.
- Inspect work areas carefully, using a keen eye for detail to identify and address missed spots, wear, damage or hazards.
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures, including correct handling of cleaning products, colour-coded equipment and waste.
- Manage laundry tasks, including washing, drying, folding and returning bedding, linens and personal items with care and respect.
- Maintain accurate cleaning schedules and checklists, and report maintenance issues or safety concerns promptly to the appropriate team member.
- Replenish cleaning supplies, toiletries and consumables, and store all materials safely and securely in line with COSHH guidelines.
- Interact warmly and respectfully with the people we support, protecting their dignity, privacy and personal belongings at all times.
- Collaborate with care, catering and management colleagues to ensure the environment meets the needs of the people we support.
Required Qualifications
- A caring, compassionate and patient approach, with genuine passion for supporting others.
- A strong eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
- Ability to work reliably as part of a team and independently, following routines and instructions.
- Good communication skills and a respectful, courteous manner.
- Ability to carry out physical tasks, including standing, bending, lifting and moving around for extended periods, with reasonable adjustments considered where appropriate.
- Right to work in the United Kingdom.
- Willingness to undergo relevant pre-employment checks, as applicable to working in a care setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a domestic, housekeeping or cleaning role, ideally within a care, healthcare or residential setting.
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices.
- Awareness of health and safety requirements, including COSHH.
- Experience supporting vulnerable adults or working in a person-centred environment.
- Relevant training or certificates in cleaning, food hygiene, or health and safety.
Technical Skills
Cleaning and Hygiene
- Proficiency with standard cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, mops, floor scrubbers and cleaning chemicals.
- Understanding of colour-coded cleaning systems and safe waste disposal.
- Ability to deep clean and maintain hard floors, carpets, soft furnishings and sanitary areas.
Laundry and Organisation
- Competence in operating commercial or domestic washing and drying machines.
- Strong organisational and time management skills to complete tasks within set schedules.
- Accurate completion of cleaning logs, checklists and basic written records.
Personal Strengths
- Observant, thorough and dependable, with a proactive approach to spotting and resolving issues.
- Empathy, discretion and respect for confidentiality.
- Flexibility and a positive attitude when working in a busy environment.
About the Role
This is a full-time, on-site position based in Castleford. Remote work is not available. The salary is competitive. As a Domestic at Strong Life Care, you will play an important part in the day-to-day wellbeing of the people we support, helping ensure that every space is clean, safe and welcoming.
