Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our management team as a Regional Manager.
You will be responsible for leading a team of Commercial projects Regional Building Inspectors, managing technical operations across the region, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, compliant building control services in line with the Building Safety Regulator's (BSR) Operational Standard Rules and Professional Conduct Rules for RBCAs.
This pivotal role requires a strong technical background, leadership capabilities, and a commitment to maintaining professional competence and upholding public trust.
Key Responsibilities
- Regional Management: Ensure the effective management of the region to deliver company objectives and meet BSR's Operational Standard Rules.
- Technical
Leadership: Act as a principal point of contact for surveyors' technical queries, provide senior mentorship, and assist with the continual training of Registered Building Inspectors (RBIs) to upgrade their registration class.
- Quality
Assurance: Manage a diverse caseload of domestic and commercial projects, overseeing plan checking and site inspections to ensure compliance with all relevant Building Regulations and associated legislation.
- Client Relations: Deliver professional RBCA services to clients, advising on fee quotes and managing customer queries.
- Professional Standards: Ensure that all activities are conducted in accordance with the RBI Code of Conduct and company quality manuals.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
- Registration: Must be a fully Registered Building Inspector at a minimum of Class 3G/H and 4 (desirable), with demonstrable competence to work on complex or higher-risk building projects.
- Professional
Membership: Hold professional qualification/chartered status with a relevant body such as the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) or the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
- Experience: Substantial experience in building control regulation, including assessing compliance and overseeing projects. Experience managing a team of at least 5 years.
- Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of the technical and legal aspects of building control, the Building Inspector Competence Framework (BICo F), and the Building Safety Act 2022 and associated regulations.
- Management Skills: Proven project management, time management, and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise a demanding workload.
- Communication: Excellent written and oral communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- IT Literacy: Proficient in using building control databases and standard MS Office applications.
- Mobility: A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for site visits is usually required.
