The Curriculum Lead in Maths is a combined teaching and leadership role responsible for managing the daily delivery of provision for Maths learners across at least three courses, one of which will have a significant student cohort, including GCSE, A Level, and A Level Further Mathematics. Working closely with the Assistant Principal and Head of Department, the post-holder will play a key role in raising the quality of the student learning experience, improving engagement and satisfaction, and ensuring high-quality outcomes through the efficient and economical use of college resources.

Beyond classroom delivery, responsibilities include leading departmental quality assurance, managing the induction and development of new staff, and driving the sharing of best practice in Teaching, Learning, and Assessment.

The role pays on the Academic Teacher's pay scale (T01 to T11) and receives a Management Allowance (M1 to M3) resulting in a salary range of T01 + M1 £34,412 up to T11 + M3 £49,578, depending on qualifications and years of teaching experience.

Responsibilities
  • Teach and lead Maths courses for students aged 16–18, providing high‑quality, imaginative, innovative, and high‑impact learning experiences.
  • Deliver engaging lessons that meet curriculum requirements while supporting student progress and attainment.
  • Provide pastoral support to students, ensuring a supportive learning environment and promoting student welfare.
  • Lead departmental quality assurance processes, conduct lesson observations, and support the sharing of best practice amongst staff.
  • Induct and develop new teaching staff, fostering a collaborative and high‑performing team.
  • Maintain strong administrative capabilities, ensuring accurate recording of attendance, assessments, and student records.
  • Commit to safeguarding, inclusion, and promoting student welfare.
Qualifications

To be considered, candidates must hold a Level 5 teaching qualification (or be willing to work towards one), a minimum Level 3 subject qualification, and Level 2 proficiency in English and mathematics. The role requires significant teaching experience within a college environment, backed by a strong track record of designing and delivering imaginative, innovative, and high‑impact learning. Successful applicants must demonstrate experience providing pastoral support to students aged 16–18, strong administrative capabilities, and a firm commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and promoting student welfare.
