Would you like to make a real difference behind the scenes in a care setting? We are looking for a reliable and caring Laundry Assistant to join our team at Strode Park House and help ensure residents’ clothing and linen are cleaned, cared for and returned to a high standard. This is an important role within our housekeeping team, helping us provide a safe, comfortable and dignified environment for adults with disabilities and complex needs.
You will handle laundry duties, support infection control standards, and take pride in delivering a quality service that supports residents’ wellbeing. Work 15 hours per week across 3 x 5-hour shifts on a rota basis over a 7 day period, to meet the needs of the service, including flexibility for weekends and the ability to support other sites in Canterbury and Faversham when required. We offer the hourly rate of £12.71.
We would love to hear from candidates who are practical, dependable, have a keen eye for detail, and are motivated to support people in an adult care environment. As Laundry Assistant, you will:
- Collect and return residents’ laundry
- Operate industrial laundry equipment
- Undertake hand or roller ironing
- Complete basic sewing and mending where needed
- Help keep the laundry area and equipment clean, safe and compliant with infection control procedures
- Assist with linen stock handling
- Work sensitively with respect for residents’ privacy, dignity and individual needs

We’ve been delivering care since 1946, and this residential home is where it all started.
The team at Strode Park House ensures our residents live in a safe and secure environment; each person’s individual wellbeing, dignity and choice is vitally important within the community of residents who live at or come for a short break. Strode Park House provides care on a 24-hour basis, 7 days a week including weekends and bank holidays. This means we value reliable and flexible staff. - Laundry experience, whether gained in work or elsewhere
- An interest in adult care services and a genuine desire to make a difference
- Ability to read and follow instructions, including the safe use of cleaning chemicals
- Good communication skills and a positive team-focused attitude
- High standards, attention to detail, and pride in your work
- Honesty, reliability and flexibility to work the required shift pattern
- A driving licence and access to your own vehicle to travel to other sites when required
