Lead a team that makes every day feel safer, brighter and more welcoming.
At Strode Park House in Herne, exceptional housekeeping is about far more than a spotless environment. It helps vulnerable residents feel comfortable, respected and at home. We are looking for a caring, organised and hands-on Housekeeping Manager to lead our domestic and laundry teams and inspire consistently high standards across the service.
This role is full time (37.5 hours per week) and permanent, and we are offering an hourly rate of £14.42.
Where we receive high numbers of applications, we may close vacancies early. If you think this is the right opportunity for you, please don't delay in applying!
Make a visible difference
You will take the lead on cleanliness, hygiene and infection control throughout residents’ rooms and communal areas. From planning rotas and developing your team to managing supplies and keeping COSHH information up to date, you will make sure the service remains safe, welcoming and ready to support the people who live here.
What you will be doing
• Lead and support housekeeping and laundry colleagues through effective supervision, training and rotas.
• Champion high standards by inspecting resident rooms and shared spaces and responding quickly where improvements are needed.
• Protect residents and colleagues by embedding infection-control, health and safety, and safe chemical-handling procedures.
• Keep operations running smoothly by managing stock, equipment, uniforms and budgets.
• Stay hands-on by covering housekeeping or laundry duties when required.
• Work collaboratively with maintenance colleagues to report hazards, damaged furniture and faulty equipment.
Why this role matters
This is an opportunity to shape an essential service, develop a committed team and create an environment where excellent care can flourish. Your leadership will be noticed every day—in the confidence of your team, the safety of the home and the comfort of every resident.
About you
You take pride in the details, communicate clearly and lead by example. You will bring cleaning experience—whether gained through employment or elsewhere—along with the ability to understand instructions for the safe use of chemicals. Reliable, trustworthy and flexible, you will respect each resident’s privacy, preferences and personal space. Experience in a care home and basic English and mathematics skills would be welcome, but your commitment to making a positive difference matters most.
