We are delighted to assist a medium-sized client to find an experienced Transport Operations Manager. They are involved in waste management, collection & recycling operating in a complex/high care environment. Their client base includes construction, energy, engineering & all industrial sectors. The vehicles are bespoke & all staff are highly trained.
Ideal candidate:
- A CPC qualified Transport Manager is a minimum.
- You must have had a deep input into running & overseeing all aspects of transport management.
- Hands on management of c30 drivers.
- Full responsibility for day-to-day transport operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and strong commercial performance.
- You will run the O License.
- This is not a desk-based role. We are looking for someone who is present, proactive, and confident in managing drivers, challenging performance, and maintaining full control of the operation.
- Manage transport operations, including routing, planning, and fleet utilisation.
- Monitor and improve vehicle performance, efficiency, and downtime.
- Ensure full compliance with transport legislation and operator requirements.
- Take ownership of cost control, KPIs, and operational profitability.
- Work closely with planners and operational teams.
- Lead and manage drivers, ensuring performance and accountability.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure audit readiness.
- Ensure reliable and timely service delivery, resolving customer issues and complaints effectively.
- Support maintaining accreditation standards, including the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS).
Essential requirements:
- Proven experience in transport.
- Minimum 2 years managing drivers or operational teams.
- CPC qualified.
- Experience using TMS, routing systems, and MS Office.
- Good knowledge of the Oxfordshire area.
- Full UK Driving License.
- IOSH or equivalent safety training.
Work Environment: Office based
Working hours: Monday to Friday 07:00 to 16:30
PPE requirements: in operational areas
Generous holiday entitlement: 27 days +
