Our client is a very well-established waste management company across several sectors. They have several branches across North Wales and are now in need of an excellent Transport Manager.
Summary: Our client requires an experienced and highly organised Transport Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a waste transport fleet in North Wales. The operation runs approximately 35 wagons and drivers, servicing domestic, commercial and construction customers across the region. This is a hands-on management role requiring strong leadership, excellent organisational skills, and a thorough understanding of transport compliance and fleet operations within the waste or logistics sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operation of a fleet of approximately 35 skip wagons and drivers
- Plan and oversee efficient routing and scheduling to maximise productivity
- Ensure full compliance with DVSA, Operator’s Licence, and transport legislation
- Monitor and maintain driver hours, tachographs and working time regulations
- Manage driver performance, conduct briefings and address any operational issues
- Liaise with the weighbridge, operations team and customers to ensure smooth service delivery
- Oversee vehicle maintenance schedules, defect reporting and fleet safety
- Implement and maintain strong health, safety and environmental standards
- Maintain accurate transport records and compliance documentation
- Support continuous improvement in fleet efficiency and service standards
Experience required:
- Proven experience as a Transport Manager in a high-care environment
- Strong knowledge of transport compliance, Operator’s Licence requirements and DVSA regulations
- Excellent planning, scheduling and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage and motivate a team of drivers
- Excellent organisational abilities
- Good IT skills and experience with transport management systems
