Our client is a Global FMCG Distributor and we are delighted to assist them in their search for an experienced Fleet Maintenance professional as they look to recruit a Fleet Engineer / HGV Technician at their site in Corby, Northamptonshire. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the operational condition, compliance, and cost efficiency of the fleet vehicles. You will act as the technical authority on all fleet matters, safeguarding legal compliance and optimising total cost of ownership.
Key Accountabilities as Fleet Engineer:
- Lead the strategic and operational management of the company’s fleet.
- Oversee preventative maintenance programmes and ensure DVSA compliance.
- Manage workshop performance and third-party maintenance providers.
- Monitor KPIs such as cost per kilometre, utilisation, and fuel economy.
- Provide technical approval on engineering specifications for new vehicles.
- Line manage Fleet Controllers and support Operator Licence undertakings.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders to align engineering strategies with operational goals.
The Ideal Person for the Fleet Engineer role:
- Proven experience in senior fleet management or engineering leadership.
- In-depth knowledge of UK Operator Licensing obligations and DVSA standards.
- CPC National or International qualification.
- Strong leadership and coaching skills within a compliance-driven environment.
- Ability to manage budgets, supplier contracts, and performance KPIs.
- Proficiency with fleet software (e.g., R2C, Tachomaster, TruTac).
