Strive are a UK wide Supply Chain & Logistics management recruiter. Our client is a leading provider of construction safety solutions. They have a wide ranging client base, in Rail & Construction, Power, Transmission, Manufacturing and Distribution. They are currently looking for a Transport Operations Manager at their site in Abingdon, Oxfordshire on a Monday to Friday basis. Reporting into the UK Head of Operations, you will be expected to provide oversight, governance and support to the operation and wider team in the effective and efficient management of all commercial vehicles, plant, fleet, and drivers, including safety, specifications, budgets, targets, and legal requirements.
Key Accountabilities:
- Agreeing vehicle and equipment specifications, including bespoke requirements
- Obtaining quotes and negotiating with suppliers to achieve cost effective outcomes
- Divestment of equipment optimising returns and utilising responsible and environmental considerations
- Support and constructively challenge Regional Operations Managers to achieve cost effectiveness through the budget process, close monitoring of expenditure of maintenance and repair
- Ensure compliance with regulatory needs, including:
- Operator Licence compliance
- Legal and drivers hours compliance requirements
- Mandatory vehicle inspections and Statutory Lifting Inspection compliance
- DVSA KPI monitoring in the green zone and ensuring trend analysis is positive for the business
The Ideal Person for the Transport Operations Manager role:
- CPC qualified is essential.
- Experience in a similar role and environment.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel and Word, as well as experience using routing software and Taco systems.
- FORS Accreditation experience
- Be able to demonstrate ability to cope in challenging situations.
- Work accurately with good attention to detail.
- Good communication skills both written and verbal.
- Dedication to customer service and to getting things right the first time.
- Excellent customer service skills, with a great attitude and the honesty and integrity to admit when things go wrong.
- Ability to assess difficult situations and self-manage them.
