Strive Supply Chain are a leading management recruitment consultancy, specialising in Supply Chain, Production, Planning, Logistics, Transport & Warehouse Operations. We are delighted to assist a rapidly growing medium sized 3PL to find an experienced Transport Planner for their site in West Yorkshire.
Role Summary:
- Plan and oversee up to 50 vehicles on multidrop and full load road haulage. Route planning is UK wide.
- Work to deadlines in fast-paced, pressurised situations.
- There will be a requirement for a degree of out of hours work.
- Communicate with customers regularly.
- Work closely with the existing team to ensure key operational objectives are achieved through maintaining a high standard of service to our customers.
- Work closely with drivers, including agency drivers and subcontracted routes.
- Ensure on time departure and exception reporting.
- Oversee traffic planners to ensure financial targets are achieved.
- Deal with breakdowns, traffic delays and accidents & all related admin.
- Ensure adherence to the Operator's License and driver's hours legislation.
- Ensure correct paperwork (including disclaimers and driving license checks) and briefings are completed with agency drivers.
- Drive continuous improvement and people development.
Ideal candidate:
- A proven, hands-on Transport Planner who has managed routes across the UK.
- Will have planned routes for fast moving operations ideally combining multi-drop, groupage & full load single drops.
- Must be flexible on working on an on-call basis if needed on a Saturday.
- Excellent communication skills with drivers, planners and depots.
- Must have had customer relationship experience.
- Computer literate including up to date transport planning tools.
- Drivers or Managers CPC if possible.
