Strive are a UK wide Supply Chain & Logistics management recruiter. Our client is a leading FMCG business who are currently recruiting for a Head of Engineering at their facility in Northamptonshire. Reporting into the Site Director, with direct reports, you will have overall responsibility and accountability for the Engineering function across the fully automated operation, which will include people and budgetary management.

Key Accountabilities as the Head of Engineering:

  • Overall responsibility for Engineering activities across the business
  • Create and implement best practice engineering vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve business performance
  • Lead the Engineering team to ensure all operational plans are met
  • Ensure that engineering strategies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs
  • Provide leadership to departments under control and coach, mentor and develop direct reports and manage a high performing team that delivers continuous improvement, added value and cost reductions
  • Evaluate the challenges faced by the business and take action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities
  • Contribute to overall business strategy and annual budget process
  • Take ownership of the engineering policy, guidelines and any associated documents
  • Initiate and develop creative and innovative engineering processes

  • Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to optimise team performance and development
  • Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders and suppliers
  • Strong and confident negotiator with the ability to negotiate at all levels
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Experience of working within an automated distribution centre or manufacturing environment
