Our client is a leading FMCG distributor in the UK and we are delighted to assist them in their search for a Head of Sales to lead their large Sales teams across Telesales and Field, incorporating incoming calls, new business development and key account management. This role is a hybrid role based at home and in the office. Reporting into Board Level, you will be leading your team to implement the sales strategy that will create and exploit all opportunities to satisfy customer demands and deliver the required revenue and profit to the business.
Key Responsibilities as Head of Sales:
- Initiate, plan, manage and monitor the sales strategy.
- Lead and develop a team of Sales Team Managers so that they are able to continuously deliver against their business goals.
- Manage performance, delivering training for individual development needs whilst utilising direct customer feedback and shaping team dynamics.
- Develop and implement a business strategy to achieve growth in sales and cash margin.
- Coach and support the sales management team and provide a succession plan within the sales team.
- Make decisions on management of margin improvement within current economic and competitive climate.
- Drive right products to right customers through the right people – prioritising how to do this and how to pass this on to your team and making it achievable.
- Make all relevant decisions on winning new business versus retention and growth of existing accounts.
Ideal person for Head of Sales:
- Ability and experience of leading and developing a team of sales managers, including Field and Telephone teams, effectively to gain customer loyalty and profit result.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the FMCG industry.
- Ability to think and act in a commercial way that makes sustainable profit with good margins.
- Ability and experience at customer account level and relationship management to a high level of professionalism and effectiveness.
- Being able to plan for and conduct effective meetings and presentations.
