Our client is a leading 3PL, with an envied client base and turnover exceeding £25million.

Due to a period of growth, they now require a Logistics Contract Manager to manage an established client at their site in Staffordshire.

As Logistics Contract Manager you will become a key member of the Distribution & Operations team, responsible for delivering key projects to drive sustainable and progressive change into the customer’s operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full budgetary responsibility for the customer’s contract
  • Full management of the open book commercial model
  • Creation and agreement of weekly cost report and oversee correct, timely and accurate invoicing to the client
  • Drive development and lead the contract through change required in-line with agreed strategy with the client
  • Ensure the contract is planned & controlled in a proactive, constructive and progressive manner
  • Develop, execute and delver strategic cost-saving initiatives
  • Responsibility for all transport functions within the customer’s site
  • Responsibility for managing a small team and recruitment in conjunction with the client and within agreed budgets
  • Manage the contract operation, directly, both daily, weekly (tactical) and on a long-term basis (strategic)
  • Manage the relationship with all sub-contractors employed on the contract
  • Deal with all escalated operational issues
  • x Understand the key drivers of the operation, managing accurate and meaningful KPI’s which in-turn ensure the productivity and profitability
  • Act as the key on-site contact for the client ensuring that all SLAs are met and that additional requirements are addressed
  • Maintain a high level of Health & Safety compliance and quality standards, in-line with business requirements and relevant legislation
  • Oversee the maintenance and compliance of the fleet assigned to the contract
  • Responsibility for the creation and maintenance of all SOPs to provide robust systems and processes
  • Ideal Person for the role of Transport Controller
  • A proven track record that demonstrates success in a similar position and has a strong understanding of commercial contracts, SLAs and KPIs.
  • The ability to identify and mitigate contractual risk (e. g., service penalties or indemnities).
  • Knowledge of transport regulations and logistics contract law.
  • Someone who has experience or working as a partner with a customer on their own site and leading a team that is responsible for all transport functions within the customer’s site.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with various stakeholders to develop, execute and deliver strategic cost-saving initiatives.
  • An in-depth knowledge of logistics operations (HGV fleet, warehousing, and distribution).
  • Managing the contract operations, with the ability to translate contractual commitments into operational delivery on a daily, weekly or long-term basis.
  • You must be competent with transport management systems (TMS), fleet tracking and ERP platforms.
