Strive Supply Chain are working with an international supplier of non-food FMCG items to the retail sector. The Assistant Management Accountant will join the Finance Team based with the opportunity for development into a Management Accountant role whilst gaining appropriate experience and full Accounting qualification (e.g. AAT, CIMA, ACCA, ACA).
This is a varied accounting role, supporting the Head of Accounting and Management Accountants with the monthly reporting process for several varied business units. This is a hands-on role, enabling the jobholder to get involved with many aspects of accounting and forecasting.
SUMMARY:- Supporting the Head of Accounting and Management Accountants with the monthly reporting process for various business units
- Ensuring all reporting is of a high quality, accurate, and produced to agreed timescales.
- General ledger postings to SAP ensuring allocation to correct GL codes, cost centres and projects
- Ensuring income and costs are accounted for in the correct accounting period, including identifying prepayments and accruals.
- Preparing reconciliations of general ledger and intercompany accounts, proactively identifying and resolving accounting issues, following up exceptions and ensuring accurate and up to date SAP ledgers.
- Conducting expenditure analysis and control, including supporting Management Accountants with feedback to cost centre managers, as required.
- Supporting cash and treasury reporting to Group
- Assisting with and developing improvements to process efficiency, proactively automating activities.
- Gaining an understanding of main profit drivers in each business
- Preparing corporations tax analysis for external advisors
- Supporting external and internal audit processes
- Ad hoc other projects as required
- Positive “can do” attitude and hunger for knowledge/experience
- Ability to work through new accounting scenarios referring back to first principles of double entry
- Strong reconciliation skills
- Strong excel, data manipulation and reporting skills
- Able to juggle tasks and priorities within a fast-paced environment
