Role Overview
This is a high-impact commercial opportunity to help build a new specification sales channel for the business. With UK housing development targets and tightening SuDS drainage legislation driving demand, there is significant growth potential for permeable surface and compliant drainage solutions. You will take ownership of developing relationships with housebuilders, groundworks contractors, architects, and landscape professionals to drive product specification at project level. This role is about building long-term commercial channels from the ground up and creating sustainable revenue opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and develop relationships with major housebuilders, including procurement and technical teams
- Work with groundworks contractors and installers to drive product adoption
- Promote solutions into planning, SuDS compliance documentation, and project specifications
- Develop relationships with architects, planning consultants, and landscape architects to secure project specifications
- Build partnerships with merchant networks such as specification and managed service routes
- Manage and grow existing contractor accounts while identifying new commercial opportunities
- Attend CPD events, planning forums, and industry networking events to promote brand awareness
- Track sales and specification opportunities using CRM system
What Success Looks Like
Within 6 Months:
- 10+ active relationships with housebuilders or contractors
- First specification orders secured
- Live pipeline of opportunities managed within CRM
Within 12 Months:
- Specification channel contributing to revenue growth
Person Specification
Essential:
- 5+ years' experience in specification, contractor, or technical product sales
- Proven success selling into housebuilders, contractors, or landscape/specification markets
- Knowledge of SuDS legislation, permeable paving, or planning compliance frameworks
- Strong relationship management skills at both site and procurement level
- Ability to develop new commercial channels without an existing pipeline
Desirable:
- Experience with BREEAM, CIRIA SuDS standards, or similar frameworks
- Knowledge of permeable paving, drainage, or ground stabilisation products
- Existing industry relationships within housebuilding or specification networks
- Experience working with merchants such as Keyline or Travis Perkins Managed Services
