Who we are

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world's largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and create new business models. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead.

About the team

The Risk team builds trust, an essential ingredient for Stripe's mission to increase the GDP of the internet. We make it possible for millions of businesses to access and use Stripe's financial infrastructure while protecting our users, financial partners, and the broader ecosystem from harm. Risk sits at the center of our users' and Stripe's ability to grow safely. We help legitimate businesses access Stripe's financial services, provide credit to creditworthy businesses, and increasingly help users manage their own risk. We also prevent fraud and financial crime, manage Stripe's credit exposure, meet our obligations to regulators and financial partners, and enable Stripe's product teams to launch and grow products safely.

What you'll do

As a Senior Staff Product Manager for Risk, you will lead cross-Risk and cross-Stripe initiatives that fundamentally change how Stripe and our users manage risk. You will identify the most important opportunities that cut across Risk's infrastructure and products, define solutions to our most ambiguous problems, and drive execution from early technical shaping through delivery and adoption. You will operate as a product counterpart to Risk's senior technical leaders. You will shape infrastructure and product direction across Risk, connect work that would otherwise remain fragmented, and help product teams across Stripe build on Risk's capabilities. You will remain deeply engaged in the work, helping teams navigate difficult technical and product decisions. You will partner closely with Risk leadership to shape the organization's strategy, vision, and most important investments.

Responsibilities

  • Identify high-leverage problems that cut across teams, turn ambiguity into clear product and technical direction, and establish measurable outcomes.
  • Lead major cross-Risk and cross-Stripe initiatives from initial shaping through delivery, adoption, and iteration.
  • Lead changes to Risk's approach to leveraging data and AI to accurately identify and mitigate risk at scale.
  • Partner deeply with engineering, data science, and ML leaders to shape architecture, data foundations, models, APIs, and product experiences.
  • Help product teams across Stripe build on Risk's capabilities quickly and effectively, while guiding Risk teams toward coherent, reusable infrastructure and product decisions.
  • Partner with Risk leadership to define multi-year strategy, identify the organization's most important bets, and make clear investment and sequencing decisions.
  • Build alignment among teams with different goals and constraints, resolving difficult tradeoffs and driving progress without relying on formal authority.
  • Coach and mentor PMs across Risk, helping them strengthen their product judgment, technical depth, strategic thinking, and execution.
  • Advance the product management discipline across Stripe by raising the bar for how we define problems, develop strategy, partner with technical teams, and deliver complex cross-organizational work.

Who you are

We're looking for an exceptional product leader who combines strong technical judgment with product insight, strategic range, and executional rigor. You identify important problems before they become obvious, bring clarity to deeply ambiguous spaces, and mobilize teams around solutions that work across products, organizations, and time horizons. You are deeply curious and stay at the forefront of advances in AI and technology, finding practical ways to apply them to our most challenging problems. You move fluently from defining multi-year strategy to driving the details of execution. You build alignment and lead transformational work across teams without direct management authority. You earn trust through the clarity of your thinking, your focus on users, and your hands-on engagement in the work. You raise the ambition and effectiveness of the teams and PMs around you without needing to manage them.

Minimum requirements

  • A track record of identifying and delivering high-impact, transformational product or technical initiatives that span multiple teams and organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to bring clarity to deeply ambiguous problems, set a compelling direction, and drive work through execution and adoption.
  • Strong technical judgment across data, machine learning, AI, APIs, platforms, and system architecture.
  • Experience partnering deeply with senior engineering, data science, and product leaders to shape both technical direction and product strategy.
  • Strong product judgment across foundational infrastructure and user-facing experiences, with a focus on building capabilities that solve real user problems.
  • Deep quantitative fluency and the ability to use data and causal reasoning to understand problems, evaluate tradeoffs, and measure outcomes.
  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders, build alignment across organizational boundaries, and drive execution without direct management authority.
  • Experience mentoring and developing PMs and raising the quality of product thinking and execution across teams.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, with the ability to articulate compelling strategies, influence technical and executive audiences, and make complex topics clear.
  • High agency, intellectual honesty, curiosity, and a low-ego, hands-on working style.

Preferred qualifications

  • An engineering and preferably ML-based technical background.
  • Experience applying AI and machine learning to complex, high-stakes problems at scale.
  • Experience with fraud, credit, payments, financial services, trust and safety, or another domain involving complex decisions and asymmetric consequences.
  • Experience working with globally distributed teams.
