We are partnering with a leading global investment management organisation undergoing a major transformation programme across its investment operations and accounting landscape. They are seeking a highly technical Investment Accounting SME with deep expertise across IBOR-driven accounting, investment data, cash forecasting and accounting methodologies. This role will play a key part in a strategic programme focused on the enhancement and optimisation of investment accounting and operating model processes. This is not a traditional operations role. The successful consultant will need a very strong understanding of how the underlying components of an IBOR platform interact to produce investment accounting outputs, cash positions, estimates, accruals and performance-related data.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the senior SME across Investment Accounting, IBOR data structures and accounting methodologies
- Analyse and interpret how accounting, cash and investment data is generated across complex investment portfolios
- Support the design and enhancement of investment accounting operating models, controls and processes
- Provide expertise on accounting treatments, valuation impacts and financial instrument behaviour
- Work closely with Operations, Finance, Technology, Change and Data teams on strategic initiatives
- Contribute to the definition and implementation of future-state accounting and investment data processes
- Investigate and resolve complex accounting, reconciliation and month-end related issues
- Support accounting and investment data forecasting, estimation and cash projection activities
- Provide guidance on transaction life cycle impacts across investment products and portfolios
- Work within large-scale transformation and change initiatives across investment operations environments
Required Experience
- Strong background within Investment Accounting, Fund Accounting, Investment Operations or Investment Data environments
- Extensive experience working within Asset Management, Investment Management, Custody or Fund Administration
- Deep understanding of IBOR platforms and how underlying accounting and investment data is constructed
- Proven knowledge of US GAAP, Local GAAP and IFRS accounting standards
- Strong understanding of accounting impacts across complex financial instruments
- Experience supporting month-end close, accounting book management and reconciliation processes
- Strong knowledge of investment transaction processing and life cycle events
- Understanding of tax impacts, lot accounting methodologies and portfolio accounting structures
- Experience working on strategic transformation or operating model change programmes
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Financial Instrument Knowledge
- Candidates should demonstrate strong exposure across a range of asset classes and instruments including:
- Equities
- Fixed Income
- Derivatives
- Structured Products
- Multi-asset portfolios
- Experience with any of the following would be highly advantageous:
- IBOR/ABOR platforms
