Stride Recruitment are urgently recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to be based on-site at Darent Valley Hospital, Dartford covering building services PPM's and Reactive Maintenance, on a Long Term contract on behalf of our client's on-site Facility Management division.
Key Details
- Location: Darent Valley Hospital, DA2 8DA
- Full time – Mon‑Friday, 37.5 hrs/week (basic hours paid per week)
- Salary: £22.55 per hour ongoing, with overtime at 1.5× or 2× rate over 37.5 hrs
Core Requirements
- Carry out PPM and reactive maintenance breakdowns; perform checks from water sampling to reactive plant remediations.
- Service and maintain building plumbing services and plant equipment in accordance with relevant standards, frequencies, and safe working practices.
- Respond to reactive breakdowns, carry out fault finding and necessary repairs.
- Carry out scheduled planned preventive maintenance tasks.
- Have a ‘can‑do’ approach to work ethos.
- Be able to work within a small maintenance team, consisting of a mechanical shift engineer and a semi‑skilled shift engineer (plus a full day team of engineering and support staff).
Qualifications and Skills
- Good all‑round technical ability and working knowledge of a wide variety of plumbing systems; knowledge of building maintenance preferred but not essential.
- Qualified or Time‑Served NVQ2+ Mechanical Plumber.
- Previous plumbing and mechanical commercial PPM experience required.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- The ability to multitask and be methodical.
- A proactive approach to problem solving.
