Stride Recruitment are urgently recruiting for an Electrical Engineer and a Mechanical / Plumbing Engineer to be based on‑site at Darent Valley Hospital, Dartford covering PPMs and reactive maintenance breakdowns on a long term contract basis.

Core details:

  • Location: Darent Valley Hospital, DA2 8DA
  • Immediate interviews / start dates
  • Full time - Mon to Fri, 8 till 4:30pm – 37.5 hour basic week + overtime available (shift covers and shutdown work, as well as additional remedial works) paid at time and a half
  • Flexible working shift patterns also available, 12 hour shifts mixed between day 7am – 7pm and night 7pm – 7am
  • Salary: Standard hourly rate between £22 and £22.50 per hour

Requirements:

As the Mechanical Engineer / Electrical Engineer / Plumber, you will be required to carry out trade specific PPMs and reactive maintenance breakdowns.

  • For an Electrical Engineer, this could include changing light fittings, moving sockets, completing fire alarm / emergency light testing, and remedial work to full electrical shutdowns across the hospital.
  • For a Plumbing / Mechanical Engineer, you’ll be required to do checks from water sampling and planned mechanical maintenance to reactive plant remediations across the hospital.
  • Having previous experience specialising in commercial Heat Interface Units is advantageous.

Accountabilities:

  • To service and maintain building services plant and equipment in accordance with relevant standards, frequencies, and safe working practices.
  • To respond to reactive breakdowns, carry out fault finding and any necessary repairs.
  • Carry out scheduled planned preventative maintenance tasks.
  • To have a 'can do' approach to your work ethos.
  • Be able to work within a small maintenance team, consisting of an electrical or mechanical engineer and a semi‑skilled engineer (plus a full day team of engineering and support staff).

What you will need:

Electrician:

  • Good all‑round technical ability and a working knowledge of a wide variety of electrical systems required; knowledge of building maintenance preferred, but not essential.
  • Must be fully qualified in Electrical with experience of Commercial / Hospital buildings.
  • Must be fully qualified electrician (JIB Gold, City and Guilds, 2391 testing inspection, 18th Edition).
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.
  • The ability to multi‑task and be methodical.
  • A pro‑active approach to problem solving.

Mechanical Engineer / Plumber:

  • Must be a Qualified or Time‑Served NVQ 2 + Mechanical Plumber.
  • Previous Plumbing and Mechanical Commercial PPM experience required.

  • A pro‑active approach to problem solving.
