Are you an experienced Chartered Town Planner with a proven track record, looking for your next challenge with a progressive and supportive employer who values People, Planet and Purpose? This is an opportunity to join our Town Planning team working in our London (or potentially Bristol) Studio to lead large-scale major development proposals, whilst also forming part of the Planning Teams’ Senior Leadership Team.
This is an important leadership role, where you will be an integral part of contributing to the strategic objectives of the team. You will have people management responsibilities, supporting the pastoral care and personal development of team members. You will also have a voice in initiatives, contributing to the wider winning work strategy, creativity, and innovation of the company.
We work in multi-disciplinary studios alongside Architects, Urban Designers and Landscape Architects. We work on a wide range of projects across key development sectors. We act as a trusted advisor to our clients, adopting a proactive approach to client relationships. We strive to create successful places which balance economic, environmental, and social objectives.
You will be responsible for leading major and complex projects that often involve large-scale multi-disciplinary teams, as well as providing strategic advice to a range of public and private sector clients. You will have a role in team and people management. Working alongside the Head of Town Planning, as well as company Directors, Sector and Specialist Team Leaders, you will:
- Leadership: Lead and manage multiple complex planning application-based projects, playing a key role in shaping sustainable development that is well-designed and enhances the function and quality of the built environment.
- Advice: Provide a wide range of strategic advice to clients and internal colleagues that is tailored to the needs of the user, is evidence-based, clear and to a high professional standard.
- Win Work: Use your experience to assemble bids and secure new commissions. Help wider winning work strategies for key sectors and clients that contribute to the growth of the team’s workload and reputation.
- Partner: Act as a trusted advisor to clients, managing relationships with commercial acumen.
- Mentor: Inspire and grow team members and assist with future recruitment strategies, as required.
- Development: Support the strategic direction and financial performance of the planning team.
- Standards: Uphold Stride Treglown’s ethical standards and act in the best interests of the practice and its Employee Ownership Trust.
Professional Body: You will be a Chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI) with at least five years post-qualification experience.
Track Record: Post‑qualification experience in development management and / or strategic planning.
Management: Experience of managing and developing the growth of people or teams.
Financial: Experience of managing the financial performance of projects and/or planning applications.
Sector Experience: A broad knowledge of key planning sectors and ideally, a track record within the Education (schools, higher & further education), Healthcare, Institutional, Mixed-Use Urban Regeneration and Tech & Innovation sectors.
Mindset: Evidence of a collaborative and proactive approach to multi-disciplinary working with a passion for delivering high-quality planning outcomes and advice.
