We are working with a global insurance brokerage who are looking to appoint an experienced Account Manager to join one of their specialist divisions in Chelmsford. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a portfolio of specialist clients, providing tailored insurance solutions and delivering exceptional service within an international broker environment.

Role Overview

As an Account Manager, you will manage and develop a portfolio of clients within a specialist sector, acting as the main point of contact for all insurance needs. You will provide technical broking support, negotiate with insurers, and work closely with senior colleagues to retain and grow accounts. This role offers the chance to work within a high-performing team at a respected international broker, with strong opportunities for career progression.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of clients within a specialist division, ensuring excellent service and retention.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for client queries and policy requirements.
  • Negotiate with insurers to secure competitive terms and bespoke solutions.
  • Prepare and present renewal reports and client documentation.
  • Identify opportunities for account development, cross-selling and up-selling.
  • Ensure compliance with FCA regulations and internal procedures.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience as an Account Manager / Account Handler / Client Executive within commercial insurance.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance products and markets, ideally with exposure to specialist or niche classes.
  • Excellent client relationship management and communication skills.
  • Ability to negotiate effectively with insurers and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Cert CII / Dip CII (or working towards) desirable.
  • Organised, proactive, and client-focused approach.
