Onsite/Bonus Underwriter

Full-Time On-site
S

You’ll spend your time with the people who rely on your underwriting decisions, working through complex cases together and using your authority to help them win and retain clients to develop their business.

As the designated On-site Underwriter for four key offices of this major commercial and corporate insurance broker, you’ll work from home with around 10- 12 days each month spent on site, building the relationships and understanding of their accounts that make your expertise so valuable.

The opportunity

  • You’ll be involved in the discussions that matter; how to retain an important account, accommodate a client’s changing requirements or agreeing terms on more complicated risks.
  • Being there in person gives you a clearer understanding of the account and the opportunity to work through the detail with the people who know the client.
  • There is substantial decision‑making authority within your remit and plenty of autonomy in how you manage your work.
  • Stakeholders will look to you for sound judgement, practical guidance and dependable service, giving you a valued role in what they’re trying to achieve.
  • The portfolio covers commercial property and casualty insurance, including larger and more complex risks. Your focus will be existing business, allowing you to build detailed knowledge of the accounts and long‑term relationships with the teams you support.

Who would suit it?

  • You’ll be an experienced commercial underwriter with strong property and casualty knowledge and confidence handling complex, higher‑value risks.
  • You’ll enjoy discussing cases, explaining your reasoning and negotiating a sensible outcome. Just as importantly, you’ll want to build relationships with the offices, take ownership of their underwriting support and see the effect of your work on their business.
  • The role covers a Midlands patch, so you’ll need a full driving licence and be comfortable with regular travel. Structured induction, specialist training and support from experienced underwriting colleagues will help you get established.

The package

  • A basic salary of up to £60,000, plus a company car or car allowance.
  • You’ll be eligible for an annual bonus of up to 17.5%, based on individual and company performance, with a strong history of paying out.
  • Combined pension contributions can reach 20%, including your own 8% contribution.
  • You’ll receive 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, with a holiday trading scheme and life assurance.
