Head of Marine UK – Cargo & Liability London / Manchester

We are working with an exciting global Insurer who are looking to fill a high profile Marine role within their Senior team. This is a rare opportunity to make your mark in the world of Marine Insurance and lead a strong, dedicated and knowledgeable team.
THE ROLE:

1. The leader of the company Marine account across the UK regions.
2. Accountable for delivery of the financial plan for an assigned team/area.
3. Full management responsibility for the performance and development of the team in accordance with corporate strategic direction.
4. Coach, lead and develop underwriters and direct the development of underwriting training.
5. Participate with senior management in the development and implementation of underwriting policy, marketing and business strategy.
6. Develop and implement production, profitability and operating plans for enhancing the business and meeting strategic objectives.
7. Review and direct the application of underwriting policy and pricing for all risks within an assigned book of business.
8. Develop and maintain agency and/or broker relationships to ensure positive and profitable outcomes.
9. Drive operational improvement and underwriting effectiveness through use of data and MI reporting.

THE CANDIDATE:

1. An excellent market profile and an extensive network of market contacts.
2. Highly effective at leading, coaching and developing underwriting staff.
3. Advanced technical expertise, underwriting skill and knowledge of insurance and underwriting principles, practices and procedures.
4. Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external business partners.
5. Advanced analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects.
6. Creativity in resolving unique and challenging business problems.
7. Ability to achieve business goals and objectives.
