AN ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE ROLE WITH NO NEW BUSINESS TARGET AND CLIENTS TO INHERIT. Office in North East.
Had enough of new business targets in your Account Executive role? Or an Account Handler/Manager that is ready to take the next step? This role comes with longstanding clients to inherit, that are being handed over from two Directors that are still in-post within the broker. The broker offers real support around you, and no pressure to go out and manufacture opportunities that are not there.
It is a strong option for an experienced Account Handler/Account Manager who wants to step up, OR for an Account Executive who likes clients but has had enough of being measured on sales first.
Why this role stands outThis is not a brokerage where you are expected to build everything from scratch. New business tends to come through referrals, so the focus here is on managing relationships, retaining clients and gradually taking ownership of a substantial book. There is a genuine succession angle too. As you find your feet within the broker, they will happily provide more longstanding clients for you to manage the relationship with moving forward.
What you would handleThe book is broad, commercial and cross-class, with a mix of mid-market clients and some larger cases paying anywhere up to £500,000 GWP. Sectors include manufacturing, haulage, construction and engineering, which will feel familiar in the North East market. You would be the main point of contact for clients, advising on cover, working with broking support and insurer markets, and building long-term relationships across the portfolio.
Who this could suit- An Account Handler or Account Manager ready to move into an Account Executive position
- An Account Executive looking for a softer landing and less sales pressure
- Someone with solid commercial insurance knowledge across a varied cross-class book
- Someone who is credible with clients and wants long-term ownership rather than constant target chasing
This is an independent broker with around 25 staff and control of circa £14m GWP. The team comes across as friendly, knowledgeable and down to earth. The office is in Gateshead with free parking, and they will want someone in the office, particularly early on, while the handover develops.
If you want a more natural route into an Account Executive role, or a better version of the one you already do, this is worth a confidential conversation.
