St Richard’s Hospice is looking for an experienced and passionate Chef to join our Catering Team. Food plays an important role in the comfort and wellbeing of our patients, families, staff and visitors. We are seeking a chef who takes pride in producing high quality, freshly prepared meals and who understands the difference that food can make to someone’s day. Working as part of a supportive team, you will prepare and serve nutritious, appetising meals for patients, visitors and staff, ensuring individual dietary, cultural and nutritional needs are met. You will also support hospice functions and events, contribute to menu development and help maintain the highest standards of food hygiene and safety.
Key responsibilities:
- Prepare, cook and serve high-quality meals using fresh ingredients
- Create bespoke meals for patients with individual dietary requirements
- Create a variety of meals for customers to purchase in our in-house restaurant
- Support menu planning and service development
- Assist with catering for meetings, functions and events
- Maintain excellent food hygiene, cleanliness and due diligence records
- Supervise Kitchen Assistants when required

About you:
- NVQ Level 2 in Food Preparation and Cooking (or equivalent)
- Experience working in a professional catering environment
- Knowledge of special diets and nutritional requirements
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- A flexible and positive approach to work
- High standards of food quality, presentation and cleanliness
- Experience within healthcare would be advantageous but is not essential.
