Role Overview

We’re looking for a proactive full‑time Accounts Senior to join our team in Barnstaple. If you’re looking for a varied, client‑facing, technically challenging role that’s genuinely career‑enhancing, this is it. You’ll work closely with managers, partners and clients, taking ownership of your work while supporting junior colleagues. The role will give you exposure to a wide range of clients and enable you to develop your career in a general practice environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial statements for sole traders, partnerships, charities and limited companies
  • Prepare tax returns and computations for companies, partnerships and limited companies
  • Prepare VAT returns and handle client queries related to VAT
  • Prepare tax returns and computations for individuals
  • Communicate with clients to resolve any queries
  • Provide assistance in the development of junior staff

Skills, Qualifications and Other Requirements

  • ACA/ACCA/AAT part qualified or currently studying towards a qualification
  • General practice experience
  • Strong IT skills and familiarity with IRIS, Xero, QuickBooks and similar accounting software
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with clients
  • Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage your own workload and work effectively as part of a team
  • Highly organised, proactive and committed to delivering quality work
