To support the Tax team based in Stevenage by delivering high-quality compliance services to a portfolio of individual clients. The role involves assisting with preparation of tax returns, maintaining client records, and developing technical knowledge within UK personal taxation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of self-assessment tax returns for individuals, including sole traders, company directors, partnerships, landlords, and investment clients.
  • Gather and review client information, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Input financial data into tax software and reconcile to supporting documentation.
  • Calculate basic tax liabilities.
  • Monitor deadlines and assist in ensuring compliance with HMRC filing requirements.
  • Prepare correspondence to clients and HMRC.
  • Support the tax team with ad hoc administrative and technical tasks.
  • Maintain up-to-date and organised client files (electronic and paper where applicable).
  • Liaise with clients to request information and resolve routine queries.
  • Keep up to date with changes in UK tax legislation through training and self-study.
  • Assist with MTD compliance.
  • Request information for and prepare P11ds.
  • Preparation of sole trade accounts.

Skills and Experience

  • Basic understanding of UK personal tax principles (through study or experience).
