We are looking for an experienced Practice Bookkeeper to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who is already comfortable managing bookkeeping for multiple clients at the same time. You will be helping our team manage a varied portfolio of businesses, keeping their financial records accurate, up to date and under control. Every client and every job we work on uses Xero, so strong, practical Xero experience is essential. This is not something we can compromise on.

What you will be doing

  • Completing regular bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients
  • Processing purchase invoices, sales invoices and bank transactions in Xero
  • Completing bank and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Managing clients' finance and Accounts@ email inboxes
  • Communicating directly with clients and suppliers to resolve queries
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring bookkeeping deadlines are met
  • Supporting the preparation and submission of VAT returns
  • Identifying missing information, unusual transactions and potential bookkeeping issues
  • Working closely with the wider team to ensure each client receives a responsive and reliable service

What we are looking for

  • Previous experience managing bookkeeping for multiple clients, ideally within an accountancy practice
  • Strong, hands-on experience using Xero
  • The ability to organise and prioritise a busy workload across several clients
  • Experience with basic VAT bookkeeping and an understanding of VAT returns
  • Good attention to detail and confidence working with financial information
  • Clear and friendly written and verbal communication skills
  • The confidence to communicate directly with clients and suppliers
  • A proactive approach, with the ability to spot problems and follow up on missing information
  • The ability to work independently while also being part of a supportive team

About the role

This is not a role where you will spend all week working on one set of accounts. You may be working across several different businesses, each with its own deadlines, processes and priorities. You will therefore need to be comfortable juggling multiple clients without losing track of the detail. You should enjoy variety, take ownership of your work and understand the importance of keeping clients' bookkeeping accurate and up to date. In return, you will join a knowledgeable, friendly and down-to-earth team that takes its work seriously without taking itself too seriously. If you have solid Xero bookkeeping experience and enjoy the variety of working with multiple businesses, we would love to hear from you.
