We are seeking a dedicated Technical Compliance Lead to play a strategic leadership role in the firm. This is a newly created position that will shape our compliance and risk management strategy while ensuring operational excellence. A key focus of the role will be on developing robust frameworks, educating the business on compliance matters, and taking a proactive approach to risk management and regulatory adherence.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified Accountant/Auditor with experience in an accountancy practice, currently working in or having held a technical or compliance-focused role. Experience in QAD, ICAEW, or a senior compliance role within a Top 40 accountancy firm is highly desirable.
As this is a newly created role, you will have a unique opportunity to shape its development and lead compliance and risk management across the firm. The role encompasses setting compliance strategy, developing implementation plans, and overseeing their execution while ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and facilitating change management.
You will collaborate closely with the Audit Committee, Audit Compliance Partner, and Managing Partner, receiving full support in executing your responsibilities effectively. We provide flexible options for remote and/or in-office work. This role typically requires one trip to each office per year, significantly reducing travel compared to a traditional QAD position. It’s an excellent opportunity for those seeking a better work-life balance, with fewer days on the road and a more collaborative, hands-on role.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement the firm’s compliance strategy and ensure its effective execution.
- Lead on all areas of compliance and risk management, ensuring regulatory adherence and operational excellence.
- Work closely with and support the Audit Committee, Audit Compliance Partner, and Managing Partner.
- Manage and coordinate resources involved in compliance activities, including the Compliance team and Responsible Individuals (RIs).
- Ensure effective communication on all areas of compliance, ensuring adherence to the firms compliance requirements.
- Qualified Accountant/Auditor (ACA/ACCA or equivalent).
- Proven experience in a technical or compliance role within an accountancy practice.
- Strong knowledge of ICAEW and FRC ethical and regulatory requirements.
- Experience conducting file reviews, audits, and managing compliance processes.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive change and implement strategic initiatives.
- Experience in a compliance role within a Top 40 accountancy firm or a regulatory body such as ICAEW/QAD.
- Experience managing or contributing to compliance-related acquisitions and integrations.
- Prior engagement with regulatory bodies and experience handling external compliance visits.
- Play a strategic leadership role in a growing and ambitious firm.
