The Role

As Accounts & Tax Manager, you'll take ownership of a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses across multiple sectors, whilst leading and developing a growing team of accountants.

You'll work closely with the Directors, helping to drive quality, efficiency and exceptional client service across the office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a portfolio of limited company, partnership and sole trader clients.
  • Reviewing statutory accounts, corporation tax returns and personal tax returns.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for clients, providing proactive advice throughout the year.
  • Managing workflow, deadlines and team capacity.
  • Supporting, mentoring and developing junior team members.
  • Reviewing work and ensuring high technical standards are maintained.
  • Building long-term relationships with clients and identifying opportunities to add value.
  • Working closely with the Directors on practice development and continuous improvement.
  • Supporting the continued growth and success of the Bristol office.

About You

We're looking for someone who is technically strong, commercially aware and enjoys leading people.

  • ACA or ACCA qualified.
  • Minimum 7 years' recent experience working within UK accountancy practice.
  • Previous management experience leading or supervising an accounts team.
  • Strong knowledge of UK accounts preparation and taxation.
  • Strong knowledge of FRS 102 + 105
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A proactive approach with a genuine desire to help clients succeed.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Experience using Tax Calc
  • Experience using Xero and cloud accounting technologies.

This is a full-time position based in our Bristol office.

To ensure you get to know our team, clients and ways of working, the role will initially be office-based.

Once you're fully established, we'll offer hybrid working as part of a flexible long-term arrangement.
